Goal Achievers Intensive Mentoring Program

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

A youth leadership mentoring organization that helps high school students and parents navigate life and prepare for post-secondary education and careers.  We focus on a 2-generational model to address the holistic needs of the complete family. We currently have two groups in Charlotte, NC and Monroe, NC that serves Union and Anson County students. We’re an all-pathways matter organization that has a keen focus on college, vocational training and entry level employment with a solid career path. Having dedicated students, parents and a team willing to help students navigate life 100% of our high school students’ complete high school successfully and 94% transitioned to college, trade school and or the workforce.   The program runs on the traditional school year calendar from August to May. No GPA Requirement, but dedication, commitment and consistent engagement is. 

Growth Opportunities:

  • Leadership Development Sessions – Are monthly group mentoring sessions that focus on leadership, social skills and the continued development of the student. Occurs every 3rd Saturday of the month from September-April. This is a required activity for the program. Students should be able to participate in at least 6 Saturday sessions and the mandatory kick-off in August.
  • College Tours -A career and college exploration activity that is facilitated during Charlotte Mecklenburg School System Teacher Workdays for the charlotte group. 
  • Career Readiness Activities  –As students matriculate through the program, they will have access to job readiness, career coaching, worksite visits and internship opportunities.
  • Team Building Activities – Students will have the opportunity to participate in monthly social outings to build relationships, meet new people and have fun! 
  • Parent Empowerment Sessions – With a core value being Family Engagement, parents have the opportunity to attend monthly empowerment sessions on the same Saturday and time as their student’s leadership development sessions. Parents are required to participate in 2 sessions throughout the year. 
  • Cohorts– Short-Term skill-building and professional development opportunities that requires 100% attendance and access to internal scholarship dollars to support educational and career goals. 
  • Volunteer Opportunities– Students will participate in a minimum of 2 community service activities throughout the year.
